North Kansas City Hospital (NKCH) and the North Kansas City YMCA are pleased to announce the grand opening of the "NKCH Wellness Corner," an open-concept gathering space designed to bring additional health and wellness programs to YMCA members in the Northland. A public open house and ribbon cutting ceremony will be held Friday, May 20 at 11 a.m.

Community members are invited to tour the NKCH Wellness Corner, meet NKCH’s community health nurse and enjoy light refreshments. With an emphasis on education and preventative care, the NKCH Wellness Corner provides complimentary wellness screenings, advice and risk assessments to Y members on Wednesday and Friday mornings. Therapeutic massage services will soon be available by appointment. Additionally, the space serves as a meeting place for weekly NKCH educational sessions on health topics such as medication education, digestive and colon health, heart health and diabetes.

The monthly Lunch and Learn Series hosted by the North Kansas City YMCA featuring NKCH physicians and healthcare professionals will continue to be free and open to the public.

"There's a growing need for access to education and preventative health services, and this partnership will also allow us to include the expertise of North Kansas City Hospital healthcare professionals in our current and new programs."

Through a partnership with the City of North Kansas City, the Y began operating the former North Kansas City Community Center as the North Kansas City YMCA in January 2015.
