A public open house and ribbon cutting ceremony will be held Friday\, May 20 at 11 a.m. \n\nCommunity members are invited to tour the NKCH Wellness Corner\, meet NKCH's community health nurse and enjoy light refreshments. With an emphasis on education and preventative care\, the NKCH Wellness Corner provides complimentary wellness screenings\, advice and risk assessments to Y members on Wednesday and Friday mornings. Therapeutic massage services will soon be available by appointment. Additionally\, the space serves as a meeting place for weekly NKCH educational sessions on health topics such as medication education\, digestive and colon health\, heart health and diabetes. \n\n"North Kansas City Hospital is proud to partner with the North Kansas City YMCA to provide preventative care and health education to our community\," said Peggy Schmitt\, president and CEO of North Kansas City Hospital. "We are both committed to helping people live well and stay healthy." \n\nThe monthly Lunch and Learn Series hosted by the North Kansas City YMCA featuring NKCH physicians and healthcare professionals will continue to be free and open to the public. \n\n"We're excited to welcome North Kansas City Hospital on site and partner with them to expand resources to our members\," said Garry Linn\, North District Vice President for the YMCA of Greater Kansas City. "There's a growing need for access to education and preventative health services\, and this partnership will also allow us to include the expertise of North Kansas City Hospital healthcare professionals in our current and new programs." \n\nThrough a partnership with the City of North Kansas City\, the Y began operating the former North Kansas City Community Center as the North Kansas City YMCA in January 2015. \n\n"I am very pleased with the partnership between the Hospital and the YMCA\," said Don Stielow\, Mayor of North Kansas City. "This outcome is what the City had in mind when we entered into our arrangement with the YMCA   building relationships between community partners for the betterment of North Kansas City and the Northland."
