2025 April Membership Luncheon: Dr. Stephen L. Reintjes Sr., North Kansas City Hospital

We’re thrilled to announce that Dr. Stephen L. Reintjes Sr., a nationally-recognized neurosurgeon and president/CEO of North Kansas City Hospital and Meritas Health, will be the featured speaker at the NKCBC April luncheon.

Dr. Reintjes has deep roots in Kansas City. A proud graduate of Rockhurst High School, he earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed his residency in neurosurgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

“At the end of my residency, a group of North Kansas City Hospital physicians asked me to start my practice here,” Dr. Reintjes shared. “At the time, I couldn’t afford office space, so I rented a desk for $150 a month. It didn’t take long for me to fall in love with North Kansas City Hospital.”

Over the last 30+ years, Dr. Reintjes has held numerous executive leadership roles at the hospital, including director of spine surgery and leader of Meritas Health Neurosurgery for seven years. He became CEO in April 2020 and has been instrumental in shaping the future of healthcare in our community.
