DESCRIPTION:Celebrate North Kansas City Schools 100th birthday* on Saturday\, May 4\, 2013\, at North Kansas City High School and the District Football Stadium\, located at 620 E. 23rd Avenue.\n\n		\n\n		Join us for a Parade of Schools at 9 a.m.\, followed by the annual RUN NKC Schools 5K at 9:45 a.m. Festivities continue until 2 p.m.\n\n		It promises to be a day of family-friendly fun\, with a free picnic from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and activities for all ages\, including history displays\, music performances\, a student art show\, culinary and physical education demonstrations\, automotive program cars\, face painting\, chalk art\, children's games and much more.\n	\n		People who attend will be invited to sign a big 100th birthday cake and record their school memories on a "graffiti wall" outside the District Football Stadium. \n	\n		Bob Hiatt\, a retired North Kansas City High School assistant principal\, will present a district history overview and slideshow at 1 p.m. in the auditorium.\n	\n		The 5K benefits the North Kansas City Schools Education Foundation and special centennial fundraising projects\, as well as PTAs\, PTSAs and Booster Clubs at district schools. When you register\, $5 goes to the school organization you designate.\n	\n		Registration costs $25 per person and includes a Centennial T-shirt. A Family Stroll for those with small children is $25 per family\, with one T-shirt included. Same-day registration is $30. Prizes and medals will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in seven age brackets.\n	\n		To download a registration form to return by mail\, visit www.nkcschools.org/foundation-5k.
