SUMMARY:Cider Day @ Grain to Glass
DESCRIPTION:Cider Day: We've had many inquiries about repeating the cider pressing that we did last year. The apples supplied by Of the Earth Farms were truly amazing in the juice they produced! Jim Pierce will again bring in his choice cider-making apples on Sunday\, October 4th\, and we will have a press to make juice right in our parking lot. The list of apples he will offer (and recommends) include: Red Field (offers bitterness)\, Jonathan (acidic)\, Golden Russet (sweet)\, and Red Delicious (aromatic). There may be others\, depending on his harvest\; Jim says that blending apple varieties makes the best flavor. The price of these choice apples is $0.50/lb (about 25 lbs makes a gallon of juice). We will be pressing from 10 AM-2 PM. Please let us know if you plan to make cider--and how many pounds of apples you will need--apple supply is limited\, so let us know ASAP. Grain to Glass will supply yeast\, nutrients\, sanitizer\, and gallon jugs. You might also want to get our reference book\, "Cider Making."
